Weekend Roundup October 29-30!

October 31, 2011 0 Comments Arizona by AZ State Publisher Coach Kurt
USSSA put on their annual Halloween Scream tournament this past weekend at Big League Dreams in Gilbert, AZ.  Teams from all over the valley showed and some great ball was played.  Below are the results for each division!

10U Majors:

In the 10u Majors Division it was the QC Devils winning their second tournament of the month when they beat the AZ Grizzlies 8-2 in the Championship.  The Devils came in as a AA team but they proved that is just a label as they finished the weekend with a 3-0 mark while outscoring their opponents 33-7!  The Devils are now 9-2 on the short season and look to get better each week!

10U AAA:

In the AAA division it was the AZ Extreme who took home 1st place honors. They finished the weekend with a 3-1 mark with their only blemish at the hands of the Devils.  In the championship the Extreme took care of the Halos by a score of 11-8.  This the Extreme’s 2 win of the short season.

10U AA:

The Sandlot All Stars 9u scored 44 runs in just 4 games to secure the AA title.  In the championship they pounded hit after hit that resulted in a 21-8 victory over the BBC Reds.  Playing up most of the year this club from Tempe has now compiled an overall mark of 7-6 including 3-0 against teams their own age.  This is their second win in a row after they won the 9U division event earlier this month.

11U Majors:

The Sandlot All Stars Arizona’s team to beat all of last year has come back and continued their winning ways going 4-0 in their first tournament out.  The Sandlot outscored their opponents by a score of 41-17 but was tested in the final against a very good Young Guns team.  The Sandlot in the end prevailed but only by a score of 7-6.

11U AAA:

In the AAA division it was also the Sandlot All Stars taking home the title, only this time it was their 10 year old team playing up.  Posting a record of 4-0-1 on the weekend was impressive but nearly as impressive as the fact that they gave up just 16 runs in 5 games to kids that are bigger, stronger, and older.  In the final the Sandlot upended Sandlot White 11u team by a score of 10-1.

11U AA:

In the AA division it was the Inside Pitch Blue who took home the crown.  In the final they avenged an earlier 9-5 loss to the Line Drive by beating them when it counted most by a score of 11-10! IP as their known finished the weekend with a 3-1 mark.

12U Majors:

The AZ Extreme continued their winning way this past weekend by posting a 4-0 mark and taking home another Majors title. The Extreme are now 20-1 on the year but just 2-1 against their division.  In the final the Extreme outlasted the Tucson Dbacks by a score of 6-5.

12U AAA:

In the AAA division it was the Swag who in the end came out on top. After posting two ties on Saturday in pool play the Swag came out ready to battle on Sunday as they beat The AZ Desert Dawgs 5-3, the Tempe Renegades 4-3, and then the LP Tigers in the final by a score of 4-3.

13U Majors:

In the 13u division it was the AZ Predators taking home the crown as they beat the AZ Blaze in the final by a score of 8-4. The Predators ended the weekend with a 3—0-1 mark as their only blemish came in the form of a tie on Saturday to the LP Tigers.

13U AAA:

In the AAA division it was the AZ Extreme Gold who came out on top as they went 5-0 on the weekend while outscoring their opponents by a score of 40-15! In the final the Extreme outlasted the Dodgers Baseball Club 6-1 on their way to their first title of the season.

13U AA:

The AA division was loaded with parity as ten teams all had the same goal in mind.  In the end though it was the AZ Aces who outlasted the competition as they beat the North Valley Kings 10-4! The Aces won three games to secure the title on Sunday after going 0-2 in pool play.

14U Majors:

In the 14U division it was the AZ Buzztails taking home the title as they beat the AZ Bandits in a slug fest 20-14. The Buzztails finished the weekend with a 4-0-1 mark with their only blemish coming at the hands of the same Bandits team in the pool play rounds.

14U AAA:

The Arizona Rush came out swinging in the AAA division as they posted a 5-0 mark en route to the title.  The Rush dominated this one as they allowed just 8 runs in 5 games while scoring 40! In the semi and final the Rush outscored their two opponents by a score of 20-0!

14U AA:

The Mountain Lion Baseball Club took home the AA crown when they beat the Grinders Black 7-5 in the semi and then followed that up with a 13-7 win over the Inside Pitch White.
