15U Ohio Warhawks
The 2008 15U Ohio Warhawks are set for serious runs at both the NABF and CABA World Series titles this year. Coming off a 47-9 season in 2007 with championships in the Buckeye Elite, Best of the Midwest, Triple Crown's Memorial Weekend Thriller and Capital City Classic, USSSA's Major Ohio State tournament and a second place finish in the Triple Crown world series in Steamboat, Colorado, and the Warhawks made a few roster changes to make the 2008 team's potential even higher. Joining left-hander Ben Bokor and right-handers Evan Dix and Weston Weis on the pitching staff are left-handers Trevor Gast and Derrik Drapier, and right-handers Wil Beese, Trace Johnson and Halen Core. The only non-pitching new face in 2008 is outfielder Austin Cousineau who will join returning Warhawks Joey Tomko (ss), Shane DeFranco (3b), Josh Bokor (c), Alec Touris (of), and Andrew Gronski (c). The Warhawks have already started 2008 off strong with a perfect 5-0 record and championship in the 2008 16U President's Day Challenge in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Despite being without the pitching of Drapier, Core (who could not make the trip) and Johnson (nursing a sore arm), the Warhawks managed a perfect 3-0 in pool play, beat a strong Maryland 16U team in the semis, and had a solid 11-3 win over the Schaumburg Seminoles in the finals. With Ohio High School baseball beginning the Warhawks will take a break until June and then will resume the season with appearances in Triple Crown's Battle on the Border, the Ohio Valley BCS Regional, the USSSA State Championship, Pastime's Midwest Wood Bat Tourney, the Freedom Classic Showcase and the Buckeye Elite Showcase before moving on to world series play.
