Any thoughts on the upcoming Ga. Super NIT?? My sons team is in the 13 major and it looks to have some stiff competition early in the season. Here in Ga. we are just kicking off the season and teams are struggling trying to field a full roster. Some Ga. high school baseball coaches don’t allow both travel and high school ball at the same time. Hurts travel a lot till the end of April on the south side of Atlanta because they allow eighth graders to play up where on the north half of Atlanta doesn’t allow these kids to play up.
Too bad Georgia’s Super NIT is so early in the year and that they have only one.
Could be worse – South Carolina does theirs in October!
We are Team Florida 12u and we always look forward to coming to Atlanta to compete in this event. I think it’s one of the better tournaments of the year. I think that it’s date has alot to do with league ball. It requires the use of so many fields because of the number of teams that enter which makes for tough scheduling.
Does any other states have the same travel ball -vs- high school ball problems this early in the season??? What do these teams do?? Shut down till May? I hate the idea that our travel team has to go into a SNIT without several key players. We would love to play but if the high school coach found out, my sons playing days there would be over. Don’t want that as a eighth grader. The high school coach is smart enough to see that the travel ball players are making up a large percentage of the team(both 9Th grade and JV).That is why the no travel during high school season rule is in place. It also is saving kids arms during the season. It’s a tough spot for the travel ball team.
What about those West Coast boys? Do you have these problems?
Just hate going into SNIT short handed. Feel like we’re letting his travel team down.
One more thing…Georgia needs another SNIT!!! Later in the year(April)
Good luck next weekend we(horns)are in Auburn this weekend getting ready for next weekend.
I LIKE THE FACT THAT THE SUPER NIT IN ATLANTA IS IN THE EARLY SPRING…IT GIVES THE TOP TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY A CHANCE TO SECURE AN EARLY BERTH IN THE ELITE 32, AND ALLOWS FOR THEM TO PLAY AGAINST THE BEST OF THE BEST…TO DETERMINE WHO’S WHO IN THE USSSA!!! TEAM FLORIDA HAS PROOVEN TO BE ONE OF THE BEST SO FAR IN 2011 BY SWEEPING THEIR FIRST THREE TOURNAMANTS ON THE YEAR, GOING UNDEFEATED, AND BEATING THE DEFENDING CHAMPION MBA PRIDE TWICE LAST WEEKEND IN THE CENTRAL FLORIDA WAR ON I-4! AND IN MY OPINION, EARNING THEM THE #1 SPOT IN THE USSSA 12U RANKINGS GOING INTO THE “HOTLANTA” SUPER NIT…GOOD LUCK BOYS, COACH “PAPA” CRAIG
In the ATL. ECB Astros look to be one of the 13u major favorites after winning this weekend up at their tournament. With them will be the Home Plate Chili Dogs, who also won their tournament at the “Chuck”. Astros only gave up 4 runs and Chili Dogs only gave up 5 in play this weekend. Great pitching and a bench full of bats from both teams.
ECB pride had a good showing and so did Stixx baseball in those tournaments(each making the championship games).
Here’s the Super NIT brackets in the 13U majors

Astro’s out beat AGAIN by East Cobb Colt 45’s
Tyler Calvert pitched perfect game for Bandits striking out 14 in the finals vs canes
Congratulations to Tyler Calvert and The Georgia Bsndits for winning the Atlanta Super NIT!!! Team Florida should have been in the finals against the G B’s, but we got beat in the semi final game by those Canes, and a little lefty with a big curve ball…that’s BB! Coach “Papa” Craig
The Bandits enjoyed on the best weekends that we could have imagined going 6-0 in a great field of 24 teams including Team Florida, Canes, Spartanburg Phillies, Sandtown Red Sox, and many others. After seeing Team Florida for the first time close up and in action it was not hard for me to believe that they beat the MBA Pride twice.
Not only did Tyler Calvert pitch the perfect game in the Finals, the Bandit’s also had Tucker Bradly strike out 16 of the Sandtown Red Sox that I consider one the strongest hitting teams in Georgia that got us into the “Ship”. 30 strike outs in the semi’s and final’s of any Super NIT is impressive by any book.
I also watched the Canes versus Team Florida game and the Cane’s pitcher kept the Florida batters off balance the entire game and everytime I thought Team Florida was going to break it open he came up with another pitch. Team Florida showed plenty and I expect that we have not heard the last from these guys and the Canes played great the entire weekend and my hat’s off to them also.
I agree baseball papa that was two great games to get in the ship in 12U Major. Myself wanting Team Florida to get to ship. They are great group of young men, but the Cane`s pitching was out standing. In the 11U Major it was tough battle for the Lynn Longhorns they lost to a great team from Georgia the Stealth Bombers.
The Canes battled but ran into a freight train in Tyler Calvert in the Championship. We’ve seen him pitch before against us and other teams but on this day he was awesome! I’m not sure anyone(yes, I said anyone) in the country could have beaten him Sunday! You may not have looked at a perfect game but when he’s 75-78mph, and dropping a 12-6 hammer on the inside and outside corner for strikes, then takes just enough to make you chase that’s impressive at 12u from 50′. After the game we talked to his coach and he was thinking this could be one of those special days after warm-ups. It was!
Can’t spot a team like that 4 in the first. It wouldn’t have mattered considering the perfect game. Jamarcus Burt pitched the 2-5 for the Canes and allowed 1 run on 2hits. Lead off walk in the 5th scored on a SAC-9 but other than that Jamarcus was right there once again on the big stage. Not sure anyone has the depth of power pitching the Bandits have. When you can march 2-lefties, and 2-righties to the mound that would be 1-2 on most teams in the country that’s pretty impressive. Canes have a lot of depth at pitching but it’s not all power like the Bandits.
Team Florida looked strong all weekend but Jackson Meadows(Canes) was able to mix up pitches and arm angles to keep them guessing. He posted 9k’s. In the 2nd he sat the 6-7-8 guys down all looking on 10 pitches. That’s keeping a pretty good hitting team off balance.
The Canes look forward to seeing you guys in Tennessee and at NCSNIT & VaSNIT. Go luck to you all the rest of the summer!
Canes Asst. coach
Wow! Sounds like MBA missed a great weekend of baseball. I wasn’t there but to have two pitchers in back to back games strike out so many players from great hitting teams is remarkable. Icing on the cake is the perfect game in the finals. What a loud and clear statement.
Congratulations to all the teams. We have recently played Bandits, Team Florida and the Canes. I can say without reservation that the teams are obviously loaded with talent and more importantly are class acts.
MBA is going to have to triple our efforts in order to have a shot at any of these teams.
In any event, welcome to Elite 32 Bandits. If Team Florida and Canes have not already won a Super NIT it will happen soon enough.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BANDITS AND TC13. I KNOW JIM WAS PROUD. GREAT JOB IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. WISH WE COULD HAVE BEEN THERE IN THE SHIP, BUT WE RAN INTO A BUZZSAW AGAINST THE CANES IN THE SEMIS.
