Germantown Giants Vs. Georgia Roadrunners

On paper, one would think the Georgia Roadrunners would have dispatched of the Germantown Giants with relative ease, but a funny thing happened on the way to the victory coronation of the Roadrunners as the Giants shocked the Roadrunners with an impressive 12-7 win Thursday morning in 13U Battle In The South Tournament action. Georgia took an early 1-0 lead on a sacrifice RBI by Christopher Cullen in the bottom of the first inning, but in the top of the third, a sleeping team of Giants was literally awakened as Germantown scored an RBI off of an error by Walker Grisanti, a Preston White RBI single, an RBI off of an error by Connor Green, and a Connor Wright RBI single. In the top of the fourth inning, the lead was extended to 5-1 on a Von Watson RBI single. The top of the fifth saw the lead expand to 12-1 on the strength of 2-RBI doubles by Von Watson and Connor Wright, a sacrifice RBI by Walker Grisanti, and Preston White and Sam Simmons stole home to take a 12-1 lead. The Roadrunners had  a desperation late rally to cut the gap to 12-7 with their runs coming courtesy of RBI singles by Grayson Byrd, John Cable, and Connor Burns, a 2-RBI single by Seth Beer, a sacrifice RBI by Tyler Hamill, and an additional run coming home, but it wasn't enough to derail the Giants. Germantown was led at the plate by Connor Wright (3-3, 1 2B, 3 RBI's), Von Watson (2-2, 1 2B, 3 RBI's, 2 walks), and Preston White (2-4, 1 RBI). Jake Greer (4 IP, 1 K, 3 hits, 1 ER) got the win for the Giants. The Roadrunners were led at the plate by Alec Wilson (2-3) and Connor Burns (2-3, 1 RBI). Burns (2 2/3 IP, 4 ER) was tallied with the loss for Georgia.

TN Tornados Vs. E. Cobb Longhorns

The Tennessee Tornados played almost as flawless of a game as possible, with Conart Broome and Hunter Holland combining for a no-hitter in an 8-0 romp over the East Cobb Longhorns. The Tornados hit the scoreboard first with a two-run outburst in the top of the second inning when Hunter Nelson hit an RBI double and Garrett Peeples had an RBI single. In the next inning, it was a three-run explosion that pushed the lead to 5-0 when Seth Pierce hit a 2-RBI triple and and Hunter Nelson hit an RBI single. In the top of the fifth, the Tornados struck again when a base runner stole home, Kamren Barnes hit a sacrifice RBI, and Hunter Nelson had an RBI single, and Hunter Holland and the Tornado defense would clinch the no-no for the 8-0 win. Tennessee was led at the plate by Hunter Nelson (3-3, 1 2B, 3 RBI's), Matthew Brock Jr. (3-3, 2 2B), Garrett Peeples (2-3, 1 RBI), and Conart Broome (2-3, 1 2B). Broome (3 IP, 2 K's) and Hunter Holland (2 IP, 1 walk) combined for the no-hitter. Taking the loss for East Cobb was Cade Surrells (4 2/3, 12 hits).
