13U CABA World Series Bracket Play- #5 Georgia Roadrunners vs. NW Indiana Shockers

Westfield, IN- The Roadrunners and the Indiana Shockers met up in gold bracket play Wednesday to decide who would advance in the winners bracket of the CABA World Series. The Roadrunners came out swinging the bats well matched with some great defensive glove work to down the Shocker squad 5-3.

Timely hits was the name of the game in this match up and the Roadrunners did just that early in the first. Chris Cullen got the inning started ripping a double in the gap. The next hitter, Seth Beer, stepped up to the dish and provided a two run scorched shot to notch it at 2-0. Connor Burns would be the next hitter and he followed up Beer with a single. Burns would later score on a John David Dutka double to put it at 3-0 after one half. In the second the Shockers erased their goose egg of the board crossing Joey Bryant on a pass ball to make it 3-1. The Roadrunners tacked on another run in the third crossing Dutka on an infield error to take it to 4-1. The Shockers showed some fight in them and in the fourth added one more of their own. This time it would be Jesse Wilkening who got the RBI ripping a single that scored Jordan Poore to cut the Georgia lead to 4-2. Blake Hamilton got the final RBI for the Roadrunners on a single to extend the lead to 5-2. From there the Shockers would add one more on a Riley Welch RBI double to put it at 5-3 where it would end.

The Roadrunners used a combination of pitching including Seth Beer, Charlie Hecht, and Connor Burns to get the win and move on to play the East Cobb Astros in the semi finals. Leading hitters for the Roadrunners in the victory were Alec Wilson (2-4), Seth Beer (1-3 HR), Dutka (2-3), and John Cable (2-3).
