10U Elite World Series Semifinals - #3 Brawlers (FL) vs. #1 Legends (FL) Print E-mail

When the #1 ranked team in the country, Legends baseball, jumps out to an early lead, that usually marks the beginning of the end for most teams. Coach Robert Montes doesn’t coach “most teams”, he is the head coach of the TBS #3 ranked Brawlers form Miami FL.

“I told them to look at the name on the front of the jersey. That name means we don’t quit”, said coach Montes. “That seemed to energize them”, he said.

Tristen Casas, Jose Perez and Mike Montes led the comeback. Casas blasted a long two-run homer over the fence and Perez and Montes had two doubles each.

As for TBS #1 Legends, this marks the second year in a row that they have lost in the semi-finals.

Coach Beach looks to the fourth inning as the turning point in the game. “We made a lot of errors in the fourth inning and that led to five runs. The Brawlers are a good team and good teams make you pay for routine mistakes.”

The Legends will look to travel to Texas this weekend to play in the Super Series World Series and that will be the last event for the year.

“We will be back next year. We will play up an age at most events next year and we will play at our age in the big events in 2011”, said coach Beach. His plans for 2011 include Cal Ripken in Myrtle Beach, Michigan Major Elite in July and the Battle in the South, where they are the defending champs.
