Moments after a difficult 13-4 loss, Coach Simon was surprisingly upbeat. “We won five games in a row after being put into the loser’s bracket and made it to the final four. I am very proud of these boys.” As well he should be, Stealth played 11 games in the tournament, more than anyone else and had to beat #14 Pokers Baseball twice in order to reach the semi-finals.
“We had a few balls in a row hit to the outfield that seemed to find a hole for a hit and that opened the flood gates and we never recovered.”
Coach Simon mentioned that even though the season is done, he is already thinking about next year. “Our goal is to qualify for the Elite 32 again. We are also looking to strengthen our schedule in 2011 and plan on playing in the Michigan Major Elite,
Meanwhile, the Piranz will now play in the championship game. After falling behind early, Coach Edwards reminded the guys of a few things, “I told them that no team in this tournament is more conditioned than us. We had baseball camp from 9-2, five days a week, leading up to this event. I kept reminding them that the game is six innings long and to give me six innings. They responded very well.”
