The Heat came out on top 5-3 behind timely hits and great defensive work added with a combination of pitchers. The Heat got on the board in the first crossing three runners on three hits. James White got the inning started taking one for the team. Nathan Kappers then approached the plate and ripped a single up the middle. In the second the Kentucky squad answered back crossing two of their own. Drew Jackson started the rally when he connected with a single. He would later be driven in on Jackson Haddle’s double to cut it at 3-1. Haddle eventually crossed on a sack from Gabe Ruth to put it at 3-2. The Heat added one more run in the fourth hailing from a Trey Smith double that scored Charles King to extend the lead at 4-2. The Heat added another in the sixth to put it at 5-2 where it would end. Winning pitcher in the contest was Trey Smith who went two innings giving up only two runs. He would be relieved by Devon Valentino and Charles King.
