10U CABA World Series- Cincinnati Stix vs. Zionsville Longhorns (IN) Print E-mail

Westfield, IN- The Stix came out with hot bats Tuesday morning against the Longhorns of Zionsville in bracket play of the CABA World Series. Those bats matched with a great pitching performance helped give the Stix the the 15-3 victory over the Longhorns and put them one step closer to taking a CABA championship back home to Ohio.

The Stix did not hesitate to put runs up and in the first crossed one on a double from Sam Dobrowolski. In the second the Stix went ahead 6-0 as they put up five more crooked numbers on the board. Justin Haught, Mitchell Louis, Bryce Conner, and Matt Scowden each contributed an RBI hit in the rally. In the bottom half the Longhorns got their first run of the day when Chris Doehring laced an RBI single to cut the lead at 6-1. It would stay there until the fifth when the Stix again went on a hit fest adding nine runs bringing the total to 15-1. Evan Baugh, Scowden, and Chase Coomer did most the damage each adding RBI hits to the mix. The Longhorns cut the lead even more in the bottom half of the fifth adding two more runs to take it to 15-3 but it would not be enough.

Winning pitcher in the contest was Joey Gerbus who went three strong innings. He would be relieved by Bryce Conner who came in and gave his squad one and one third and Ramsey who threw 2/3 to get the save. Leading hitters in the contest were Matt Scowden (2-4), Chase Coomer (2-4), Cole Ayers (1-2), and Mitchell Louis (1-3).
