LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Miami Brawlers’ Joseph Perez toiled with perfection Wednesday night in the under-10 Division of USSSA World Series at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. Perez did not surrender a hit as he retired 18 of the 19 batters his faced as the Brawlers coasted to a 7-0 victory over the San Diego Stars. The only blemish on Perez’s record was a walk to Carson Green as he led off the fourth inning. Green would get no farther than first base as he was cut down trying to steal second. Perez struck out seven en route to the victory. “He pitched flawlessly for us tonight,” Brawlers’ manager Robert Montes said. “The defense really backed him up. “We had a couple of big hits in the first inning and then they changed pitchers and things settled down,” Montes said. “But pitching was on right from the start and we capitalized on a few of their mistakes and that was the difference.” The Brawlers chased starter Bradley Polinsky after just three batters. Nico Montes opened the first by reaching on an infield single. Mikey Montes then lined a single that deflected off the glove of center fielder Jakob Sharpe. Tristan Casas then followed with an RBI hit to right, and that ended the night for Polinsky. Perez then helped his own cause with a deep single to right off reliever Green, which brought home Mikey Montes. CJ Calero added a sacrifice fly to give the Brawlers a 3-0 lead they would not relinquish. The Brawlers added to their lead in the fifth, the big blow was a two-run double by Casas that plated Jacob Marcos and Nico Montes.
