LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Terrel Bernard was a hero on both sides of the ball as he powered the second-seeded Pasadena, Texas, Legends to a 2-1 victory over the El Paso, Texas, Unleashed Wednesday in the under-10 Division of the USSSA World Series at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports.
Bernard delivered the game-winning single to break a 1-all tie in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Legends.  Bernard also starred on the mound after relieving starter Jacob Koch before the contest was interrupted by a one hour, 23 minute weather delay.
“It was a tough game,” Legends manager Matt Mahoney said. “We had our big pitcher on the mound and then the rains came.  He was devastated that he could not go back out there.
“But then he got his chance at the end when he came up with that big hit to win the game for us,” the coach added.
The Legends grabbed the lead in the second when Cully Mangus reached with a one-out single.  Mangus stole second and went to third on a passed ball.  He later came home on Kade Mahoney’s ground out to short.

Koch was lifted in the top of the fide.
The Unleashed evened the contest in the top of the six off reliever Kyle Hargrove.  J.J. Figueroa reached on an infield single.  After stealing second, Figueroa got to third on a sacrifice bunt by Izaiah Madrid.  Figueroa came home on Cox’s RBI ground out to short.
