Pool Play
The Cherokee Reds and WB Wildcats met up in pool play of the AAU National Championships and it would be a hit fest. The WB Wildcat bats would be too much to handle for the Reds as WB took the game 13-6.
The Wildcats would get on the board first in this game as Luis Andiegar scored on a fielder’s choice putting the squad up 1-0. The Reds answered back though scoring three runs of their own in the bottom half. Dominic Stephens provided an RBI double scoring Nick Blubaugh. Jordan Waldman would also provide an RBI double to the mix. In the third the Reds would tack on two more runs. This time Joseph Gosett and Tanner McCrary contributed RBI singles to take it to 5-1. One more run in the fourth for the Reds was provided via a Zach Stitt RBI double notching it at 6-1. Lake Worth showed that they belonged here and tacked on ten runs in the fifth to go up 11-6. From there they would go on to cross two more men putting it at 13-6 where it would end.
Winning pitcher in the contest was Drew Price who came in after the third. Price would give up only five hits. Leading hitters in the contest were Marcus Gondez (3-3), Luis Andiegar (2-3), and Tanner Alvarado (2-3). Despite the loss, Joseph Gosett (2-3), Dominic Stephens (3-3), and Jordan Waldman (3-3) had great days hitting.
