Pool Play


The New England Diamond Dawgs made the long trip from the north and met up with another long distance traveler, Team Anderson out of California. They both would play great defense in their second day of pool play at the AAU National Championships in Orlando, Florida. Team Anderson would take the well fought game by a score of 3-2.

 

Sam Cohen go the scoring started for Team Anderson in the second when he singled home Jeremy Barahow to go up 1-0. A couple batters later Evan Kaplan would produce a sac fly to right to give Anderson a 2-0 lead after two. In the third, Team Anderson would tack on one more run this time scoring Justin Pearson on a pass ball making it 3-0 after three complete innings.

 

With still a fight left in them the New England Diamond Dawgs would add two runs in the sixth inning. Nick Dulock got the first RBI for the Dawgs ripping a triple in the gap that scored Alex Palermo to cut the lead to 3-1. Dulock would later score on a fielder’s choice to bring it to 3-2 where it would end.

 

Winning pitcher in the match up was Jeremy Barahow who went five complete innings striking out four hitters while only allowing one hit. Leading hitters in the game were Tristan Beck (2-3), Justin Pearson (2-3) and Dallas Dey (1-3).
