Orlando, Florida   The Tampa Titans met with the boys from South Lake Baseball on the second day of pool play at the AAU National Championships. The South Lake bats were hot as the provided timely hit after hit to take the game 15-5.

 

South Lake got on the board first in the second scoring four runs on four hits. M. Dejesus got the rally started ripping a single through the hole. He would later be driven in on K. Badillo RBI single. J. Jackson and L. Mitchell also provided RBI hits in the attack to bring it to 4-0. In the bottom half Alex Alonso laced a two run single to cut the South Lake lead to 4-2. In the third South Lake’s S. Ramirez crossed home on an infield fielder’s choice to extend the lead to 5-2. The Titans answered back though scoring two more runs on RBI singles from Rick Vilbra and Luke Drummond to bring it to 5-4. From there the South Lake crew crossed eight in the fifth extending the lead even further to 13-5. B. Buffkin, LJ Kieson, T. Berry, and M. Dejesus contributed RBI hits to the inning. One more run crossed in the fifth for Tampa on Rick Vilbra’s double and Southlake would counter that with two runs in the sixth to end it at 15-5.

 

Winning pitcher in the match up was L. Mitchell and he pitched a great game. Leading hitters for South Lake in the win were L. Mitchell (2-4), S. Ramirez (2-4), and M. Dejesus (2-3).
