After an early defensive battle, the Greeneville Little Devils offensive eventually broke out to defeat Fury Baseball 5-0 on Saturday, August 1st in the 9U Triple Crown Summer Nationals. After a hitless first and a scoreless second and third, the game broke open in the fourth. The Fury's Cody Stainback singled and a stole a base, but the Fury couldn't move the runner across the plate. In the bottom half of the inning, however, the Little Devils offense took over. Ramsey hit the first pitch of the inning to deep right center for a double and later scored on a wild pitch. A pair of back-to-back RBI singles by Willet and Idell took the Little Devils lead to 3-0, and back-to-back RBI groundouts by Gosnell and McLain put the Little Devils on top 5-0. With Ramsey now pitching for the Little Devils, the Fury offense went 1-2-3 in the fifth. Centerfielder Tucker Brown tried to reignite the Fury in the bottom of the inning, throwing out a runner at first all the way from centerfield. But the Fury bats couldn't heat up, and the Little Devils cruised to a 5-0 victory, with pitcher Duer earning the win on the mound.
