9U- Triple Crown Summer Nationals (SC)- Cincy Red Stockings (OH) vs. Carolina Grasshoppers

Myrtle Beach, SC. It was the Seth Caddell show on Saturday, August 1st in the 9U Triple Crown Summer Nationals when the Carolina Grasshoppers faced the Cincy Red Stockings. But Caddell's performance couldn't overcome the Red Stockings offense, and the Red Stockings would win 4-3 in a nailbiter of a game.

The Red Stockings put up three runs in the top of the first, but Caddell brought the Grasshoppers within one when he blasted a 2-run homerun to deep centerfield.

In the third, Michael Lang drove a double to the left field fence, then Gabe Shepherd drove in Lang with a hit up the middle to extend the Red Stockings lead to 4-2.

Caddell would again bring the Grasshoppers within one: after a bloop hit to left and stealing two bases, Caddell scored on a wild throw to third base; 4-3 Red Stockings.

The Grasshoppers threatened for the final time when Brandon Bledsoe singled to right and was advanced by a Jeremiah Foster fielder�s choice. But Colin McDaniel lined out to pitcher Michael Lang to end the inning.

The last three innings of the match up featured fantastic pitching performances: Lang threw two 1-2-3 innings for the Red Stockings, and Seth Caddell pitched a perfect three innings, striking out all nine batters he faced. Chandler Ledford saved the game for the Red Stockings, pitching a solid sixth and escaping a collision with the first baseman to make a game ending catch in foul territory.
