Session I, June 11 through June 14, 2009

June 14, 2009 – Council Bluffs, Iowa – This year, only four teams that had traveled from Colorada and Indiana came to challenge in Session 1 for the Triple Crown’s annual 9U SlumpBuster.  This event is held in concurrence with the 2009 College World Series.  When all play was completed, the Mile High Aces from Highlands Ranch, Colorado walked away with the championship trophy.

The Aces got off to a slow start as they finished pool play with a 1-2 record.  However, this record was sufficient to earn them the #2 seed.  In the finals game, the Aces faced the #1 seed Zionsville (IN) Longhorns who had gone 3-0 in pool play.

But one has to toss out records in these finals as this game proved to be as exciting a game as one would want to see.  In the end, the Aces outlasted the Longhorns and pulled off a 13-12 upset to win the Session 1 Championship.
