The Victory 9U travel team is just that, a TEAM. The boys decided not to put their last names on the jerseys because they wanted to play for the name on the front of the jersey. This team was formed in August of 2008 and the boys quickly became familiar with each other and have formed a bond that surprises no one who knows the quality of these boys and their parents. A quick synopsis on each player in jersey number order: Jersey # 1: A.J. Wojtowicz P/3B/C. AJ is the ace of the pitching staff that sets the stage with his lightening fastball. AJ anchors a staff that gives up on average 4 runs per game. “Wojo” is a quite young man who will flash his Cheshire grin on occasion and who loves his first season of travel ball. AJ also helps himself by providing a punch to the offense as well. Jersey # 2: R.J. Kohlstedt 2B/OF/P: RJ is the bookend on the all initial team with AJ, who provides excellent defense and smarts at both second base and in the outfield. RJ is only 8 years old but plays well beyond his years, showing how well he understands the game. RJ has been hitting the ball well this early in the season by providing some clutch two out run scoring hits. Jersey # 8: Charlie Muszynski OF/2B/P: Charlie or “Moose” as he is better known has never been seen without his signature smile and good attitude. Charlie looks like a seasoned veteran whenever a fly ball comes his way, making the tough catches look routine. The Moose holds his own at the plate as well coming through with clutch hits keeping drives alive. Jersey # 10: Brett Trepac 1B/OF/P: Brett “Tree” is the tallest player on the team and brings a subtle coolness and calmness to the team as he doesn’t get to high or too low. Tree has played an excellent first base for the team utilizing his height and peach basket for a glove to stretch for balls from his infield getting the “out” call. The Tree’s long strides are legendary as he legs out singles and scores runs. Jersey # 12: Michael O’Brien: SS/P/C: Michael by far the fastest player on the team leads the team in hitting and total bases from the leadoff spot. When OB gets on you might as well concede second base. OB has also provided solid pitching in the middle innings putting out opposing teams rallies and providing the important bridge from starter to closer. OB provides the bookend to Tree on the size chart for Victory 9U, but has come up big in clutch situations throughout this young season. Jersey # 14: Sean Eulitz: P/1B/OF: Sean provides the closer duties of the pitching staff putting the other teams to bed for a Victory winner. On occasion Sean loves to show off his dimples on the mound when the going gets tough. Sean is also among team leaders in hitting over .500 along with Dakota, OB, and A.J. Sean shares the team lead in singles with OB. Jersey #22: Jake Ryan: 2B/OF/SS/P: Jake the snake is one of the dependable pitchers and is never seen without a smile on his face. Jake is a force in the infield and outfield playing stellar defense. Jake is also among the team leaders in hitting and leads the team in putting the ball in play. Jake leads the team in RBI’s batting from the 2 spot. Jersey #25: Antonio Milazzo: 2B/OF/P: Antonio or “Zo” is also one of the dependable pitchers and is a sponge. Zo is as coachable a player as you will see. He listens and does exactly to the letter what the coaching staff instructs. Zo is another quality kid on this team who provides great defense in the field and a dependable bat at the plate. Jersey #34: Dakota Kotowski: 3B/OF/P: Dakota or kowtow or DK or D has as many nicknames as the day is long is among team leaders in hitting over .500, 15 total bases and leads the team in extra base hits. Jersey #42: Marco Escobar: C/SS/P: Marco is a cat behind the dish stopping more potential wild pitches than Nikolai Khabibulin. Marco also is among the hitting leaders tied for second in extra base hits with Wojo. Marco has also provided excellent pitching and stellar defense at shortstop. In conclusion, the Victory 9U team is a close knit group that enjoys each other’s company and most importantly has fun playing the great game of baseball. Victory as an organization has adopted the Sportsleader training program, www.sportsleader.org that has taken root and taken off with the Coaches, Parents and players of the 9U team. There is a new acronym for TEAM and on Victory 9U it goes from AJ to ZO with love in the middle. Victory Baseball 9U is managed by Jim O’Brien “OB” and assisted by Mike Eulitz “ME” and Ken Wojtowicz “KW”. www.leaguelineup.com/victory9u
