2009 9U South Florida Extreme Print E-mail

The new kids on the block!

The 9U South Florida Extreme baseball team is getting rave reviews from all of their peers. The SF Extreme team has only been in existence for three months but has already played 30 games including a tournament championship win and a third place finish at the Fall Nationals Tournament in St. Augustine. The Extreme plays their regular season games based in the Florida Premier League in which the president of the league, Gaspar Palmer, “predicts them as one of the favorites to win it all in 2009.” The Extreme are extremely talented, with a combination of speed, power and defense at every position coupled with a deep pitching staff. Their pitching rotation consists of four great starters including: Anthony Biox, a tall, hard throwing right hander, Javier Santana, who has solid command of all pitches, Rafael Acosta, another right handed power pitcher and Gian Munoz who leads the team in wins. The closer Jonathan Alonso is a big hard throwing lefty who’s earned the nickname “The Wagner” from his teammates. The outfield consists of leftfielder Brandon Lee, who is known for his spectacular diving catches, centerfielder Alfie Soto, who also plays shortstop and is considered the most versatile player on the team and rightfielder Miguel Temes, who has the strongest arm in the outfield and leads the team in assists. These three outstanding outfielders also come in to pitch in middle relief situations before closer Alonso comes in to shut the door. The infield is led by shortstop Alexandro Bello and second basemen Javier Santana. The latest addition to the SF Extreme is lead-off batter Ihosvany Castaeda. The Extreme have tons of speed up and down the lineup but Castaeda leads the pack. The team is lead by Head Coach Cesar Temes, who also coached the 12U Hialeah Tigers which was ranked #3 by TravelBallSelect in 2006. The SF Extreme hopes they can be ranked #3 in the nation by TBS when the 2009 season is said and done. This team plays all across the country and are always hungry for more games. Expect the 9U SF Extreme to play in most of the big local and national tournaments in 2009. TravelBallSelect would like to wish the 9U South Florida Extreme much success in their upcoming 2009 season.
