2009 9U Indiana Prospects Baseball Club Print E-mail

The 9U Indiana Prospects Baseball Club is based out of Noblesville, IN and has players from 4 counties in the metropolitan area of Indianapolis. The team offers local kids the opportunity to play competitive baseball against the best players and teams from around the city and across the country. The Prospects believe in playing against the best competition around and travel far and wide looking for it. They plan on helping establishing their program as one of Midwest’s most competitive baseball programs.

This year’s 9U team is comprised of 3 9U veterans from 2008 and standouts from the area’s 2008 8U area programs. Their philosophy was to build a team strong on experience and athleticism.  Each of the 11 players on this year’s team was invited to join this team based on their pure athletic skills, quickness and mental attitude.  They feel they have built what should be one of the best 9U teams in the tri-state area.  They will be playing a schedule of around 50 games with a focus on tournaments the latter half of the season.  They willl be playing teams from several states, traveling as far as Jackson, Tennessee to compete.

The 2009 9U Prospects are extremely talented and have 11 players as teammates for 2009. They have a mixture of speed and power, and pride themselves on playing smart defense at every position. They also have a very deep pitching staff. The 9U pitchers have enjoyed the assistance of pitching instructor, Mike Snyder during winter workouts.  Mike has many years of major league experience as a pitching coach for the St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies and others.  The Prospects pitching rotation consists of 3 primary starters including: Braydon Tucker, a tall, hard throwing right hander with a sneaky change-up. Braydon is the “oldest” veteran having played competitive 9U in 2007 and 2008.  Jared Poland, who also has 2008 experience under his belt, has solid command of his fastball and change-up. Caleb Kennard, another right handed pitcher who’s fastball is deceiving. Joseph Moser, 2008 9U veteran Richie Hagarty and Elijah Spears are all hard throwing pitchers who will start and relieve during the course of the season.  Garrett Shores and Gavin Jacobs will be counted on to provide “long-relief”.

The infield is led by shortstop / second baseman Jared Poland and first baseman Braydon Tucker. At third base are Ritchie Hagarty and Elijah Spears, both with good hands and strong arms. Behind the plate will be Ritchie Hagarty, Gavin Jacobs and Garrett Shores, smart catchers with bull attitudes!  The outfield will be lead by Joseph Moser at Centerfield, with Austin Vukovits, Evan Doan, and Nick Frey.

The team is lead by Head Coach Jim Tucker, who brings 3 years of 9U coaching experience.  He is joined by Assistant Head Coach Chris Poland who is a wealth of knowledge and is driven by the sport.   Matt Frey and Ed Doan are our other assistant coaches. The Prospects hope they can win the State and Midwest Regional championships down in Columbus, IN. TravelBallSelect would like to wish the 9U Indiana Prospects much success in the 2009 season.
