The High Heat Kings 9U Baseball Club, formerly known as the Brooklyn Kings is based out of Brooklyn, New York and has players from all over the city. Their team offers local kids the opportunity to play competitive baseball against the best players and teams from around the city and across the country. The Kings believe in playing against the best competition around and travel far and wide looking for it. Without any home field or a steady practice facility, the Kings have established itself as one of New York’s most competitive baseball programs around. With an impressive 2008 record of 86-18 the Kings have participated in tournaments like Cal Ripken, Virginia CABA, All American Wood Bat Classic in Atlanta, GA and also represented New York Metro for the AABC title this past summer. Expect the Kings for the 2009 season to play in most of the big local and national tournaments, like the Cal Ripken Tournament in Aberdeen, Baseball Heaven in Long Island, Sports at the Beach in Rehoboth and currently they are looking forward to the National Title this summer at Triple Crown Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
The Kings are extremely talented and have added four new players to their family for 2009. They have a mixture of speed and power, and pride themselves on defense at every position. They also have a very deep pitching staff. The Kings pitching rotation consists of five great starters including: Patrick Morrissey, a tall, hard throwing right hander. Justin Pacheco, who has solid command of all pitches. Freddy Rojas, another right handed power pitcher. Willie Tavarez who is crafty with his pitches and the biggest surprise to the pitching staff is Ray Torres Jr. who has developed into becoming a very solid pitcher. The closer Ron Gibbs aka “Noodles” is a big hard thrower who’s earned the nickname “Lights Out” from his teammates. The infield is led by shortstop Ron Gibbs and second basemen Ray Torres, who make one of the best double play combinations around. At third base is Chris Mondesi, with the best hands and a sweet swing, he has the ability to play multiple positions. Behind the plate is Jordan Garcia who we know as the heart of the Kings. He can turn any game around with his big bat and when runners get on base he controls the opponents running game with his strong arm. The latest additions to the Kings is third baseman Freddy Rojas, first baseman Justin Pacheco and Patrick Morrissey who aid in making this team the front runners as the team to beat for 2009. The team is lead by Head Coach Ray Torres, who brings to the table his knowledge of the game after a very successful collegiate career at Lindsey Wilson College. He was named NAIA first team All-American in 2000. In 2006 he was the first baseball player to in be inducted into his college Hall of Fame. His constant hard work and dedication has helped these young men bring the best out of their game. When the 2009 season is said and done, The Kings hope they can win a national championship down in Myrtle Beach and also be ranked #1 in the nation by TBS. TravelBallSelect would like to wish the 9U High Heat Kings much success in the 2009 season. You can follow High Heat Kings baseball this year at its website: www.brooklynkings.org
