14U- Triple Crown Sports- Omaha SlumpBuster- Georgia Titans vs. Federal Way Knights (WA) Print E-mail

The Federal Way Knights secured a top seed by defeating the Georgia Titans 11-3 in the Omaha SlumpBuster on Tuesday, June 16.  The Knights improved to 3-0 in pool play and will go into bracket play as a #2 seed, while the Titans will enter play as a #7 seed.

Third baseman Dallin Havili powered the Knights’ offense, going 3-3 with 6 RBIs.

The Knights struck first, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first, but the Titans struck back quickly in the second. Titans Morgan Brake and Dalton Williams both walked and scored on wild pitches by Kai Cerbana to make the game 3-2.

Tyler Flowers came in to pitch for the Titans in the bottom on the second, showcasing an impressive curveball, but struggling some with control. RBI base hits by David Lee, Brett Oyer, and Dallin Havili put the Knights up 7-2.

Back-to-back defensive plays by third baseman Havili and shortstop Oyer highlighted the top of third, with Havili snagging a pop-up near the Titans dugout and Oyer making an outstanding stop on a ball hit up the middle.

Kai Cerbana started off the bottom of the fifth with a double, and scored on another Havili single. DJ Klaas added another RBI single to close out the 5th 10-2. CJ Sparnell hit an RBI single for the Titans in the top of the 6th, but Morgan Drake lined out to end the inning.

Nick Villanacci pitched the 6th for the Titans, walking three and striking out one. Dallin Havili ended the game with an RBI single for a final score of 11-3.

Titans Coach Mike Moffett was upbeat after the game, saying, “Our bracket seed was already set, so this game was a great bonus opportunity for our boys to see quality pitching. We wish we could have been more competitive, but we’re glad our team had the chance to play another top opponent.”
