14U- Battle in the South (TN)- Honorable Mention Kentucky Baseball Club Vs. Florida Mustangs Print E-mail

In what was a very competitive, back-and-forth baseball contest, in the end the Florida Mustangs managed to hold off a very determined Kentucky Baseball Club by an 8-6 margin. In the bottom of the first inning, the Mustangs got on the board first with an RBI single from Troy Degenerro and an RBI double from Matt Railey.

The TBS Honorable Mention Kentucky Baseball Club got on the board with a Brandt Redmon RBI single, a base-runner stealing home, and a sacrifice RBI to take the lead in the top of the second. In the bottom of the inning, the Florida Mustangs tied the game when a base-runner stole home.

All was quiet until the top of the fourth inning when a Kentucky base-runner stole home and Ryan Bale hit an RBI single. But the Mustangs took back the lead on a 2-RBI single from Trey Marshall, an RBI triple from Dakota Davis and an RBI single from Devon Hayes. Kentucky cut the deficit to one run in the top of the fifth inning with a base-runner stealing home, but Florida took the lead back to two runs on a Dakota Davis RBI single to take the 8-6 win.

Florida was led at the plate by Robert Robinson (2-2, 1 2B), Matt
Railey (2-2, 2 2B), Dakota Davis (2-3, 1 3B, 2 RBI's), and Jalin Richardson (2-2, 1 3B). Troy Degenerro (4 2/3 innings, 2 strikeouts, 6
hits, 6 earned runs) got credit for the win on the mound for the Florida Mustangs.

Kentucky Baseball Club was led at the plate by Taylor Blair (2-3, 2 2B) and Brandt Redmon (2-3, 1 RBI). Fraelix (1/3 inning, 2 runs) was credited with the loss.
