Legends Baseball pulled off a very surprising upset over the D-BAT Mustangs Black squad by a 9-4 tally in 14U Battle In The South Tournament action on Saturday afternoon.
Legends Basebal wasted no time starting off the game with a pair of runs coming off of an RBI single from Cole Evans. In the top of the second inning, Legends took a 7-0 lead, with their runs coming from a Braxton Brinkley RBI double, a Will Haynie RBI off of an error, a 2-RBI double from Kyle Brennen and an RBI off of an RBI error from Griff Gantik.
D-BAT scored a pair of runs off of a Blake Bruce RBI double in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 7-2. In the top of the fourth inning, Legends scored two more runs, one coming off of a solo blast from Haynie and another hitting error from Gantik. D-BAT closed the gap to 9-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning, with a Nico Steimer RBI double and a sacrifice RBI from Garrett Lakey, but that was as close as the Mustangs would get as they fell by a 9-4 margin.
Legends was led at the plate by Kyle Brennen (3-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI's), Cole Evans (3-4, 2 RBI's) and Will Haynie (2-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI's). Brennen pitched the distance, striking out five and walking three batters on six hits and four runs.
D-BAT was led at the plate by Blake Bruce with a 1-3 day with 2 RBI's) and Austin Griffin (4 innings, 4 strikeouts, 1 walk, 9 runs, 10 hits) was tallied with the loss.
