14U- Battle in the South (TN)- #6 Michigan Crush (MI) vs. Honorable Mention Team Orlando (FL) Print E-mail

TBS Honorable Mention Team Orlando was a lean, mean hitting machine Thursday morning in their game against the TBS #6 ranked Michigan Crush, crushing the opposition in a 17-5 romp.

The scoring didn't start until the second inning when Team Orlando got out to an early 2-1 advantage. Team Orlando would increase their lead in the third inning with four runs compared to one for the Crush to make the score 6-2. Both teams scored a run in the fourth inning to make the score 7-3. The point where the game became wide open for Team Orlando was a three-run fifth inning, taking a 10-3 lead going into the final inning.

The Crush scored a pair of runs in the final inning, but Team Orlando scored seven of their own, with four of them coming off of a grand slam blast by Gunner McNeill, to push the final out-come to 17-5 in favor of the Floridians. Team Orlando was led at the plate by John Bennett, with a pair of doubles, going 2-4 on the day.

Also with multiple hits were Robert Bassler, who went 2-4 with 2 singles and 2 RBI's and McNeill with a 2-4 day, hitting a single and a grand slam with 4 RBI's. Gunner McNeal was also the winning pitcher for Team Orlando, going the distance for the win. Henry Rivera and Alan Archer also had home runs for Team Orlando.

Ryan McClellan led the Michigan Crush, going 2-3 with an RBI and Kyle Kuhr had a sacrifice RBI on the day. The losing pitcher for the Crush was Adam Bleday, who struck out two and gave up five runs during his time on the mound. Neither Team Orlando or the Michigan Crush managers could be reached for comment after the game.
