If this game were a boxing or a mixed martial arts contest, this would have been a first-round knock-out as the TBS #3 ranked East Cobb Astros dominated the Indiana Blazers 18-0. Indiana went three up and three down in the top of the first inning and East Cobb scored four runs in the first inning to take an early 4-0 lead.
Indiana had another three up and three down second inning, and in the bottom of the inning, the proverbial offensive flood-gates were opened, drowning the Blazers in the after-math with an unprecedented 14 runs in the bottom of the second inning with the final four coming off of a walk-off grand slam home-run by Joseph "Jo-Jo" Marlow to pick up the 18-0 win.
East Cobb was led at the plate by Joseph Marlow (2-2, 1 HR, 5 RBI's), Travis Demerite (2-2), & Jarrett Freeland (2-2). Bruce Kirkpatrick got credit for the no-no for the East Cobb Astros. Dennis Rumfield (2/3 innings, 4 runs) was tallied with the loss for the Indiana Blazers.
With their impressive 24-4 and 18-0 games on Thursday and Friday respectively, this game locked up the overall number one seed for Saturday's tournament play and one has to think with the impressive performances so far, that the East Cobb Astros have to certainly be considered one of the teams to beat in this edition of the 14U Battle In The South tournament.
