14U- Atlanta Super NIT- #3 East Cobb Astros (GA) vs. Louisville Panthers (KY) Print E-mail

It took the TBS #3 ranked East Cobb Astros five innings to get their bats warmed up and once they did, the Astros put away the game with an 11-3 win over the Louisville Panthers.

The Panthers struck in the first inning when clean-up hitter Pitman singled in Hill. The lead didn’t last for long. Jonah Liebman started on the mound for the Panthers, giving up two runs in the first inning on a Keenan Innis triple down the right field line. On the very next pitch Tyler Graham singled to bring in Innis from third base.

Liebman helped out his own cause in the 3rd inning with an RBI singled up the middle that scored Miles Bland. In the bottom of the 4th inning Tyler Graham kept up his hot hitting with a solo homerun over the right field wall 335 feet away from home plate.

Going into the bottom of the 5th inning the score remained 5-3. The Astros then put away the game with a six run 5th to finish the game early. Bruce Kirkpatrick started on the mound for the Astros, throwing very well in a complete game effort.

“We didn’t make any adjustments early in the game,” Astros Head Coach Dave Roberts stated. “We need to do a better job of making adjustments, there are a lot of good teams in this tournament and we are playing to win it,” Coach Roberts added. “We have to play hard every inning of every game,” Coach Roberts stated.
