June 14, 2009 Pace, Florida – the 13U SWF YardDawgs from Fort Myers, Florida have captured a berth to play in the USSSA Elite 24 World Series to be held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex in July.  This event featured 7 teams from across the states of Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi.

The YardDawgs earned their berth by going 4-0 in this tournament.  They opened with a 4-2 win over the Mississippi Stars of South Haven, MS.  Next, they edged past the Tallahassee Babe Ruth All Stars by a score of 4-3.

In the championship rounds, the YardDawgs beat Bullet Baseball from Lake Charles, LA by a score of 5-3 to move into the championship game where they were matched against the Louisian Tigers of Baton Rouge.  The Tigers came into this event ranked #18 nationally by TravelBallSelect.  But, on this day, the Tigers lost a 7-6 heart breaker to the SWF YardDawgs.

With this championship win, the YardDawgs now move on the Elite 24 that will be hosted in Disney during July.
