June 7, 2009 – The 14U competition for the 2009 June Sizzler Beast of the East saw 24 teams face off in 3 different tournament groups that evenly matched teams. In the end, three champions emerged. Following is the results of each competition level. 14U Select – In this group, 12 teams from across the Carolinas faced off within this group. In pool play, the Piedmont Panthers and the Carolina Rays each went 2-0 earning the #1 and #2 seed, respectively. The Panthers started by outscoring pool play opponents by a whopping 30-1 margin while the Carolina Rays outscored their opponents by a 21-2 margin. But, in the final rounds, the Panthers proved to be the class team of the 14U select group as they continued their dominance over all opponents. They opened bracket play with a 19-3 stomping of the OP Terminators. From there, they edged past a tough Triad Thunder team by a score of 1-0 to earn their spot in the championship game. In this game, they faced off against the SC Storm. Their close win over the Terminators must have given them a wake up call as they re-ignited their after burners and blasted past the Storm by a score of 14-4 to take the championship.

In the bracket rounds, the Badgers picked up where they left off as they beat the #2 seeded Carolina Panthers by a score of 8-0. From there, the Badgers moved into the championship game where they outscored the Carolina Patriots by a margin of 8-1, thus taking home the 14U Elite championship crown.
