14U rankings are tough this time of year as many teams are awaiting the return of JV and High School Players. As many teams' seasons are about to begin, the 14U rankings will become more clear in coming weeks. 1. Team Rawlings Elite (CA) - High school ball in California will be over soon and "TRE" will get its season in full swing. TBS will be looking for reports from the west coast on the current #1 ranked team. 2. East Cobb Astros (GA) - The Astros put on quite a show at the North Carolina Super NIT winning the Championship game 23-1 and punching their ticket to the Elite 32. The "Stros" were making a push for the #1 spot before an upset loss to the East Cobb Titans. 3. Team Anderson (CA) - Like Team Rawlings, Team Anderson will get their season cranked up soon and TBS will have more to report on this top team in the near future. 4. Team Alabama (AL) - HS and JV baseball in Alabama has ended for nearly all teams. However, four of the players have significant roles on their Varsity team which happen to be in the playoffs. Team Alabama will see its first meaningful action this weekend at the Kingsport, Tennessee Super NIT. Do they have the depth to succeed without these four starters? 5. Banditos Black (TX) - Although the Banditos have suffered some early season losses, they hold on to the #5 spot and may climb before the season is over. 6. Hanover Heat (VA) - The Heat showed they deserve a top national ranking by going toe-toe with the East Cobb Astros at the North Carolina Super NIT in a very good game the Astros pulled out at the end. Look for the Heat to win some big games in '09. 7. Michigan Crush (MI) - Formerly MSA Black. Top Michigan team will get a late start this year due to high school baseball. Look for more info on the Crush when their season starts in June. 8. Indiana Prospects (IN) - Have been playing mostly local tournaments waiting for school ball to end. The Prospects will finally face some good clubs this weekend at the Tennessee Super NIT. 9. NorCal Baseball (CA) -NorCal has qualified for the Elite 32 and will face some tough competition this weekend at the Miston Sports Complex where they will match up with Club All-Star 14U and several other top 14U Northern California teams. 10. D-Bat Mustangs (TX) -Qualified for the Elite 32 with a win at the Arizona Super NIT. Like most teams at 14U - awaiting return of many players who are participating in school baseball. 11. All-American Sports Academy (CA) - Elite-32 qualifier and should battle NorCal for the top team in Northern California in '09. 12. ARK-LA-TEX Tornado (AR) - #7 ranked TBS 13U team in 2008 will crank up after school ball is completed and the Tornados will participate in some major national events. 13. SWFL Yardawgs (FL) - May be the top 14U top team in the Sunshine State in '09. Showed well at the Triple Crown Fall Nationals capturing event title. Playing mostly local events as the club readies for the end of school ball. 14. Gulf Coast Outlaws (TX) - The Outlaws have made an impression with baseball folks in South Texas. TBS hopes to hear about a Banditos-Outlaws matchup sometime this year. 15. Utah Horns (UT) - The Horns appear to be playing well in the Rocky Mountain League and TBS looks for the club to appear at some major events in 2009. 16. Chandler Reds (AZ) - Elite 32 Qualifier capturing the championship at the Winter Nationals. 17. San Diego Stars (CA) - The Stars are waiting for players to finish school ball to begin their season like so many other 14U teams. 18. West Covina Bombers (CA) - TBS hears the Bombers are playing well in the CABA 14/15U Spring league while awaiting the return of their high school players. 19. Texas Blackhawks (TX) - The Blackhawks keep putting up quality wins over other top Texas teams including D-Bat and Dallas Tigers. Look for the Blackhawks to rise in the rankings if they continue their good play. 20. Dallas Tigers (TX) - Another quality Texas club from a tradition-rich program. Look for the D-Bats, Blackhawks and Tigers to fight it out for supremacy in North Texas in 2009. 21. Knoxville Stars (TN) - The Stars program has been around a long time and is also well-respected. Look for the Stars to be the top 14U team in the Volunteer State this year. 22. Kentucky Baseball Club (KY) - A very good team from one of the Nation's up-and-coming programs. KBC team have fared very well in older age groups in recent year and look for the 14U club in 2009 to have great success as TBS' top Kentucky 14U team. 23. NC Cleveland Indians (NC) - The Indians played very well at the North Carolina Super NIT until the Championship game against the Astros. This team is big and strong and should do very well at big events in '09. 24. Club AllStar 14U (CA) - This Northern California team that has posted impressive wins over Team Anderson (TBS #3) and All-American Sports Academy (TBS #11). Will get a good test against NorCal this weekend. 25. East Cobb Titans (GA) - The Titans round out the top 25 rankings by virtue of a recent win over the Astros and putting together a quality team that will compete very well nationally. Honorable Mention Predators Orange (NC) East Cobb Braves (GA)
