I would like all of the TBS fans to meet 2008 TBS All-American Niko Gonzalez of the South Oakland A's. Niko was born on September 27th, 1994. He is the son of Joe & Joy Gonzalez and has 3 sisters. Niko and his family reside in Rochester Hills, Michigan where he plays pitcher, catcher and third base for the TBS Honorable Mention South Oakland A’s. Standing in at 5'10” and 210 pounds, Niko excels at every position his coaches put him on the field. Niko’s teammates have nicknamed him “Latino Heat.” We met up with Niko and asked him a few questions and here’s what he had to say: Niko’s favorite Major League Baseball player is Alex Rodriguez because “he always hustles.” Niko’s favorite food is pizza and his favorite movie is the action flick "Shooter". He is an avid fan of the New York Yankees and when he is not playing baseball, he likes hanging out with his friends. Niko believes his rival team is the TBS #6 ranked Michigan Crush and he feels like his best asset to his A’s team is his catching ability. His most memorable baseball moment was hitting his first home run as a little league ball player. His mother is his biggest fan and his favorite brand of bat is the one he uses, TPX. Where does Niko see himself in five years? “I hope to be playing college ball in five years.” His favorite college team is the Rice University Owls, hopefully we will see Niko playing third base for Rice in five years. Where did Niko get his athletic ability? “I feel like I got my athletic ability from my dad.”
