14U East Cobb Astros Print E-mail

Over the past three seasons, the 14U division has been controlled by Dave Robert’s East Cobb Astros.  Unlike most organizations, the 14U Astros coaching staff does not move up with each group, but rather stay at the 14U level.  This makes their recent success even that more impressive.  The run started in 2006 when the Astros captured the Perfect Game BCS and the USSSA Elite 24 National Championships.  In 2007, the Astros claimed the Perfect Game WWBA National Championship and would once again repeat as both the Perfect Game BCS and USSSA Elite 24 National Champions.  Last year’s 14U Astros made their mark as well, capturing the Battle in the South along with another Perfect Game WWBA National Championship.
This season, the 2009 version of the 14U Astros look to carry on the tradition.  After a 3rd place finish at the Elite 24 as 13 year olds, the Astros return 8 players, but have also added some pieces that could make them even stronger than a year ago.

Some of the key additions include Josh Hart (Georgia Bandits), David Mayo (Georgia Bandits), Trent Simpson (RCBC Stingers), Tony Hunter (S. Effingham), Keenan Innis (South Forsyth War Eagles), Jarrett Freeland, and Parker Johnson (Georgia Bandits).  The Astros always seem to seek out the nation’s best competition and this year won’t be any different as the Astros will be participating in the NC Super NIT, the Atlanta Super NIT, the Perfect Game WWBA National Championship, the Battle in the South, and the USSSA Elite World Series.  So far this season, the 14U Astros are off to a 32 -3 start with big wins over TBS #6 Hanover Heat, #23 NC Cleveland Indians, and #25 East Cobb Titans.
TBS wishes the East Cobb Astros the best of luck this season as they try to make their way through a very tough 14U division.
