Charlotte Megastars 13U Elite Wins USSSA North Carolina State Championship Print E-mail

The 13U Charlotte Megastars continue their strong summer run by winning the USSSA North Carolina State Championship, in Greensboro, NC.  The Megastars got off to a slow start and dropped their first game (5 - 2).  This was a wake-up call to the team and they responded by given up one run the rest of the tournament.  In the second pool game, Katon Harwood pitched a complete game with 13-strikeouts.  Sunday marked single elimination and the Megastars were posed to capture their 2nd State Championship (North Carolina Triple Crown State Champions too).  The Megastars started bracket play against the Proehlific Power Black 13; the Megastars won the game (3 - 0).  The second bracket game was against the Carolina Scorpions.  The Scorpions played tough but the Megastars won a defensive gem (1 - 0).  Andrew Loepprich pitched a great game giving up 3-hits and 6-strikeouts.  The Championship game brought the two top teams from the State of North Carolina together; the Charlotte Megastars and NC Predators.  The Predators beat the Megastars earlier in the season at the Greensboro Super NIT.  The Megastars started the scoring in the 1st inning and continued to score through the 4th inning; building a (6 - 0) lead.  The Megastars would win the game (6 - 2) and capture the USSSA North Carolina State Championship.  Foster Machicote pitched a complete game allowing 6-hits with 4-strikeouts.
