Haltom City Outlaws 11, Keller Mustangs 1 In a Bronze bracket semifinal in the 13-and-under age group, the Haltom City Outlaws racked up five-run frames in the first and third innings en route to a run-rule decision over the Keller Mustangs in three innings. The win was the second straight for the Outlaws, moving them into Saturday's Bronze bracket final on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. "I thought we jumped out pretty strong at the start with our hitting," said Haltom City Outlaws coach Warner James. "We just started rolling and we're looking forward to playing more baseball on Saturday." The Outlaws didn't waste much time in getting going, scoring five times in the opening inning for a 5-0 edge. The big hit of the frame came off the bat of starting pitcher Broderick Jackson, who helped his own cause with a rare inside-the-park grand slam. On that play, Jackson blasted a shot to deep center field with two outs, scoring Juan Florez, Luis Ornelas and Dimas Ojeda with the hit. "That's certainly something you don't see everyday," James said. Florez, who finished with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored, drove in the other run with a single that scored Justin Smith. The Mustangs did respond in the top of the second on an RBI triple from John Crawford to score Kurt Townsley. But Jackson was solid after that, retiring the final four batters he faced and notching five strikeouts in three innings for the win. The Outlaws used a run-scoring single from Cody Tischler to push the lead back to 6-1 in the second inning, before closing the game's scoring with five runs in the third inning. Florez, Ornelas and Jackson all drove in runs in the inning, with the other two runs scoring on errors. Racking up multi-hit games for the Outlaws were Florez and Ornelas, while extra base hits came from Justin Smith (triple), Travis James (double), Jackson (grand slam home run) and Tischler (triple).
