When travel baseball fans think about the top right handed 13U pitcher in the country most people think about this player, Mitchell Webb. Webb went 17-2 with a 1.91 ERA and 10 saves last year on his way to becoming a 2008 TBS 1st Team All-American. Mitchell was born September 20th, 1995 and currently resides in Dallas, Georgia with his brother, Tyler, and parents Shane and Leann. Webb has led his 2009 PC Vipers squad from a preseason TBS #13 ranking to a TBS #5 ranking in just two months. Mitchell can do it all, when he’s not pitching he plays third base, first base and catcher. Last year, he hit 34 homeruns, 101 RBIs and compiled a .554 batting average. At 5’11 and 165 lbs. Webb is one of the most feared pitcher/hitter combo’s at the 13U age group.

We met up with Mitchell to find out more and here’s what he had to say:

If you're wondering why he’s such a great pitcher, it might be because it's his favorite position to play. “When you’re pitching, you can control the game. You always have the ball in your hands.” Let’s not forget his first base abilities, which could be why Mark Teixeira is his favorite MLB player. “He can dominate both sides of the plate.” Webb is always rooting for his favorite team however, his hometown, Atlanta Braves. His favorite food is Mexican, his favorite movie is “Pineapple Express” and his best subject in school is Social Studies. His favorite park to play in is the East Cobb Complex in Marietta, GA. When Webb isn’t striking out the opposing batter or blasting homeruns, he likes to hang out with his friends. The PC Vipers rival team is the 13U East Cobb Astros, Webb said. During the games, Webb likes to enjoy a bag of sunflower seeds and a blue Gatorade. Webb’s best asset to his team is, guess what, his pitching.

TravelBallSelect is thankful to have had the opportunity to visit with Mitchell and wish him and his Vipers teammates the best this season. And the next time you see Mitchell at the park, tell him that you read about “his world” on TBS.
