2009 13U Charlotte Megastars (NC) Print E-mail
Ending the season with a record of (75-25) the Charlotte Megastars had one of the most successful seasons of any travel baseball team in North Carolina history. It reminded some seasoned travel ball fans of the Carolina Angels of the past. The Megastars finished their historic season with a strong 3rd place finish in the Elite 24 Tournament, earning themselves a ranking of 9th nationally for the 12U age division by TBS. The 2008 season is over and with that comes great excitement for the upcoming 2009 season. Manager Anthony Greene and the coaching staff did not rest on their past success and have been busy this off-season to find talented players to fill the holes-in-their-swing. The Megastars have a strong nucleus of talent to build around. They have three 2008 TBS Players-To-Watch in Jordan Greene, Foster Machiote and Chase Arnold. They have two other stalwarts in Andrew Loepprich, and Eric Tyler. Look out for all five of these players to have a huge impact next season for the Megastars. The coaches were successful in recruiting some top talent to add to this fantastic five. They are Braxton Davis, Cameron High, Jacob Carte, Connor Lind, Gage Parham, and Jordan Rodgers. Something special about this team is that they are having the success with three players playing up an age bracket. Jordan Greene, Braxton Davis, and Foster Machiote are all 12U and making a huge impact on this 13U team. Coach Greene said “this is the best team that the Megastars have ever fielded. The 2009 Megastars team will be big, strong, fast, and loaded with pitching.” Leading the pitching staff will be Foster Machiote, Cameron High, and Andrew Loepprich. Behind the plate to catch these flame throwers will be Eric Tyler, whom TBS believes to be one of the best catchers in the country in the 13U age division. In 2009, the Megastars will travel to events promoted by TravelBallSelect.com which include some Super NITs in Atlanta and Charlotte in hopes to make a return trip to the Elite World Series (now the Elite 32), the Battle in the South played in Tennessee and the Michigan Elite tournament in order to face some top competition from the north. In addition they will be visiting Nations Baseball Elite Tournaments to see if there is a fit there. With the predicted lineup and pitching rotation that the Megastars have, 2009 looks to be another historic season. TravelBallSelect would like to wish the 13U Charlotte Megastars much success in their 2009 season.
