“Win, Win Big and Crush.” Blue Springs, Missouri- The winter season comes in waves in Missouri. First, the snow falls, then melts and then it decides to fall again. Regardless of what it’s like outside, the boys of the 13U Baseknocks Classics find their way to a practice facility to prepare for the 2009 baseball season. Although the team name is new, the Baseknocks Classics still believe in putting in the same hard work that made them successful as the Blue Springs Classics in 2008. Returning Head Coach Tim Pogue believes their four-year record of 255-67-2 shows just how much time the boys put in during the off-season. The Classics return six core players from the past two seasons in which they won a 2007 AAU National Championship and a 2nd place finish in the 2008 AAU National Tournament. J.T. Hayes, Colton Pogue, Hunter Mason, Hunter Hisky, Derek Ruff, and Paul Sherwood are the six returning players who look forward to reclaiming an AAU Championship in 2009. Key additions to the 2009 Classics baseball team are Storm Rynard, Trevor Martin, and Kyle Reed, three players from other area elite teams who will bring solid pitching and powerful hitting to the lineup. Individual workouts run through December and January, Coach Pogue and new Assistant Coach Brent Wilhelm will work with the boys during the off-season. Coach Wilhelm is excited to apply his baseball experience from the University of Kansas and the Chicago White Sox to the Classics players in 09’. The coaches know that off-season hard work leads to success during the regular season. The Classics plan to play in the Triple Crown Spring Training Tournament in Arizona, the 2009 Elite Travel Classic in Oklahoma, and the Memorial Day Super NIT in Kansas City, Missouri. The boys of the 2009 13U Baseknocks Classics know these tournaments are just stops along the way to a World Series or National Championship tournament, where they plan to finish the season with the same attitude they have played with over the past four seasons. They will: “Win, Win Big and Crush.” TravelBallSelect would like to wish the 13U Baseknocks Classics much success in their upcoming 2009 season.
