12U Cooperstown NATC "Sweet 16" Results PDF Print E-mail

August 27, 2009 Cooperstown Dreams Park – the rounds of “Sweet 16” play of NATC week has now been wrapped up as this event moves into the “Elite 8” rounds of play starting at 12:30PM this afternoon.  

Following is a quick run down of how the “Sweet 16” teams fared and which advanced to the "Elite 8" rounds.

#1 Seed - The Tri State Arsenal (NJ) will open Thursday’s “Sweet 16” play against a very determined #17 seed South Jersey Young Guns (NJ).  The Young Guns got an impressive offensive display from Ryan Shinn, who hit 2 homeruns, along with Nick Ciocco’s grand slam and Anthony Peroni’s homer as they put 10 runs on the board.  However, the Arsenal found a way to score 14 runs with offense lead by homeruns from Minnicozi, Ruiz, and Dimeo.  Tri State moves on to face the #9 seed So Cal Mavericks (CA) in “Elite 8” starting at 12:30PM today.

#2 Seed - Team Anderson (CA) found a way to edge past the #18 seed Team Worth Florida (FL) by the slim margin of 9-8.  Team Worth’s D. Burns set the pace early as he hit 2 homeruns.  Z. Taylor and K.Stone each added homeruns. But in the end, Team Anderson found a way to rally lead by 2 homeruns from Dallas Dey, along with homeruns from Tristan Beck, Mark Abbate, and Jonathan Valezula.  Team Anderson now moves on to face the #10 seed So Cal Outlaws (CA).

#3 Seed - So Cal Thunder (CA) found all they could handles when they faced off against the #14 seed Westchester Clippers (NY).  The Clippers came out swinging on 2xRBI’s by Matthew DeMarte.  However, the Thunder found a way to outscore the Clippers by a 5-4 margin as they moved on to face #11 seed Eastern Massachusetts All Stars (MA) in the “Elite 8” round.

#4 Seed - California Lumberjacks (CA) faced the upset minded #56 Richmond Hit Dogs (VA).  The Lumberjacks’ offense was lead by Andrew Natividad and Josh Penner who each hit 3 run homeruns.  Also, Adolho Barajas hit a solo homer as the Lumberjacks pounded out 14 runs while holding the Hit Dogs to just 2 runs.  Next up, the Lumberjacks will face the #5 seed United States Baseball Stars (MI).

#5 Seed - United States Baseball Stars (MI) beat a tough #12 seed Middletown Warriors (NJ) by a score of 12-5.  The Warriors got a homerun from John Moschella.  But, the US Stars proved too potent as Tyler Ward, Garrett Steins, and Mike Wagner provided the leadership as each hit a homerun.  Also, Brandon Jonas added 2 homers.  Next up, the Stars will face the #4 seed California Lumberjacks (CA).

#6 Seed -
Maryland Baseball Academy (MD) fell to the #11 seed Eastern Massachusetts All Stars (MA) by a score of 13-9.  The All Stars’ mounted a big time threat as they scored 9 runs when CJ Dandeneau went 4-for-4 with a homerun; Cam Lanzilli hit a homerun and also had 5xRBI’s.  Jack Campsmith, and Quinn Conney each hit a homeruns; Andrew Noviello went 3-for-4.  Maryland got homeruns from Matt Chanin and Scott Fullenton. Next up, the All Stars will face #3 seed So Cal Thunder (CA).
#8 Seed -
Corona Heat (CA) were eliminated by the #9 seed So Cal Mavericks (CA) by a score of 7-4.  The Mavericks scoring was lead by James Goodwin’s solo homerun.  The Heat’s Andy Martinez went 3-for-3 in a losing cause.  The Mavericks will move on to face the #1 seed Tri State Arsenal.

#10 Seed - So Cal Outlaws (CA) beat the upset minded #26 LI Spartans (NY).  The Outlaws outscored the Spartans by a 12-7 margin as Tyler Durna lead his team with 2 homeruns and 3xRBI’s.  Adrian Ortego, Freddy Gomez, and Adam Santana each hit a homerun to cap off the Outlaws scoring.  Next up, the Outlaws will face the #2 seed Team Anderson (CA) in “Elite 8” play.

#11 Seed - Eastern Massachusetts All Stars (MA) beat the #6 seed Maryland Baseball Academy by a score of 13-9.  The All Stars got plenty of leadership from CJ Dandeneau, who went 4-for-4 with a homerun. Cam Lanzilli also hit a homerun and had 5 RBI’s. Jack Campsmith & Quinn Conney each added a homerun while  Andrew Noviello went 3-for-4.  Maryland’s Matt Chanin and Scott Fullenton each hit a homerun.  Eastern Mass will move on to face the #3 seed So Cal Thunder (CA).

#12 Seed - Middletown Warriors Baseball (NJ) fell the #5 seed United States Baseball Stars (MI) by a score of 12-5.

#14 Seed - Westchester Clippers (NY) lost a heart breaker to the #3 seed So Cal Thunder (CA) in a 5-4 thriller.  The Thunder will face #12 seed Eastern Massachusetts All Stars in the “Elite 8” round this afternoon.
