Bret Maxwell, a 2008 TBS Honorable Mention All-American was born June 14th, 1996 to Greg and Kelli Maxwell. Bret’s family currently resides in St. Petersburg, Florida. Bret has two older brothers, Travis and Derek and one younger sister, Alexis. Bret was named an All-American by TravelBallSelect last year as a member of the St. Pete Hurricanes; in 2009 Bret will display his skills with the 12U St. Pete Stingers. Last year, he hit in the three hole, the Stingers are looking for Bret to set the table as their lead-off hitter. Bret will start at shortstop for the Stingers and also pitch. He stands 5’7 and 148 lbs. which can be very intimidating to the hitters as a twelve year old. Bret was named the Offensive MVP at the IBC Winter Nationals in Clearwater, Fl. He was also selected to the All-Tournament Team at the 2008 11U Dizzy Dean World Series with a grand slam in the championship game.

We asked Bret a few questions and here’s what he had to say:

Bret’s favorite position is shortstop because he likes being in the middle of all the action on the field. His favorite MLB player Derek Jeter, always seems to be in the middle of the action, Bret’s says he is his favorite because “he is a great shortstop and a great leader.” Bret’s favorite MLB team is the Tampa Bay Rays. Hot dogs are his favorite food and “Batman: The Dark Knight” is his favorite movie. His favorite park to play at is Cooperstown in New York. When Bret’s not playing baseball he is playing basketball, in his spare time he likes to hang out with friends and family and shoot some hoops. His favorite subject in school is P.E. During the games, Bret likes to have a bag of seeds and a Gatorade. The Stingers rival team is the “Pensacola Bill Bonds” says Bret. His best asset to the Stingers is his leadership abilities.

TravelBallSelect is thankful to have had the opportunity to visit with Bret and wish him and his team the best this season.  And the next time you see Bret at the park, tell him that you read about his “world” on TBS.
