Brendan Rodgers, a 2008 TravelBallSelect.com First Team All-American, was born on August 9th, 1996 to Julie and Greg Rodgers. Brendan and his parents currently live in Longwood, Florida. He has two brothers Nate (22) and Jared (20). Brendan plays shortstop and second base for the TBS #6 ranked Diamondbacks Baseball Team out of Windermere, Florida, his Diamondbacks teammates refer to him as “B-Rod”. At 5’4 and 115 lbs “B-Rod” uses a combination of speed and power on the diamond, as displayed in his 2008 stats, 85 hits in 183 at bats for a .465 average to go along with 16 homeruns for the year. We met up with Brendan at the 2009 Elite 32 World Series to ask him a few questions and here’s what he had to say: “My favorite MLB player is Dustin Pedroia because our playing styles are similar and he is a great role model to young athletes.” Brendan’s favorite MLB team is Pedroia’s Boston Red Sox. B-Rod’s favorite food is steak and his favorite movie is “Transformers 2”. When he’s not playing baseball, this all-around athlete enjoys playing basketball and football. Brendan said his best asset to the Diamondbacks is his hitting, which is displayed by his most memorable baseball moment. “My most memorable moment was hitting seven homeruns in Cooperstown.” Brendan uses the DeMarini and Rawlings brand of bats to hit all of his homeruns. B-Rod said the Diamondbacks rival team is the TBS #15 ranked Florida Fire. Brendan received his athletic ability from both of his parents as both of them played high school sports. In five years Brendan sees himself playing high school baseball and hopefully one day playing for his favorite collegiate team the Florida Gators. TravelBallSelect is thankful to have had the opportunity to visit with Brendan and wish him and his Diamondbacks the best next season. And the next time you see Brendan at the park, tell him that you read about “B-Rod” on TBS.
