2009 12U Home Plate Chili Dogs Print E-mail

The 2009 12U Home Plate Chili Dogs baseball team is ready to improve upon their #24 ranking by TravelBallSelect in 2008. The Chili Dogs lost three great players to other teams this off-season which could make it tough early in the season before all of the players begin to gel. With their losses comes key additions, the Chili Dogs have added two extremely talented players to their roster in Carter Perkins and Tyler Sellers for the upcoming season.

Nine outstanding players return from the core of the Chili Dogs program. Offensive power and pitching leader Seth Pierce is a towering lefty who will be called on to lead this team to the top of the national rankings. Connor Dillon returns with the team’s highest batting average (.507) from a year ago. Tristin English returns as the most consistent hitter and catcher. Caleb Norton is the team’s defensive catalyst at shortstop and top base stealing threat. Max Birlew and Jordan Schmits return as above .400 hitters and outfield specialists. Brody Lloyd and Casey Selfe can play nearly every position on the field. Bradley Harmon also returns as the top third baseman with great offensive capabilities. Depth at all positions is the key to the Chili Dogs success in 2009.

The Chili Dogs Head Coach Tony Schmits and Assistant Coach Mike Selfe 2009 missions and goals for the Chili Dogs are simple but very important. Team Mission: “To further develop each player’s skills as a first class citizen and top quality baseball player.” Team defensive goal: ERA below 2.5 runs per game. Team offensive goal: Batting Average above .375 and Runs Scored average above 7.3 per game. The players and coaches will be working hard two to three days a week December through March to obtain the missions and goals set forth.

The Chili Dogs work out of both the Home Plate Baseball professional training facility in Peachtree City, GA and the Bullpen Baseball cages in McDonough, GA. The Chili Dogs will once again play a very tough schedule in 2009 as they plan to play in the Battle of the South, the East Cobb Tournament of Champions, CABA Wood Bat World Series at East Cobb and the Elite 32 World Series. They will also play in three Super NITs in Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, and Pace, FL. TravelBallSelect would like to wish the 12U Home Plate Chili Dogs much success in their upcoming 2009 season.
