The 12U Blowfish Baseball team returns for their second full season of travel baseball. They return their full roster from a year ago and have added one player who played up for a 12U team last season. The Blowfish have a rare team, in that, their roster is compiled entirely of boys from the same town, White House, Tn. Most of the boys have played together their entire life through the Dixie Youth program. As 10 year olds, nine members of the current roster were on different regular season Dixie Youth teams and were all selected to the All-Stars. They participated in the Tennessee State Tournament and finished two wins shy of the Dixie Youth World Series. That's when head coach Shannon Winters knew this team could compete in a travel ball environment. "We were very lucky to have kids who've known each other and get along great. Their cohesiveness really shows on the field. We also have a great group of parents who do anything and everything to make our team great" coach Winters added. The team added two boys in an open tryout and the team was set.
The Blowfish competed in 11 tournaments winning 7 gold or silver championships while compiling a 37-16 record. The Blowfish look to improve from last season with another year of experience and the addition of their new players. When asked what their expectation was coach Winters says "We know we may not be one of the elite teams, but we will play any team, any time. And if playing above our class at times hurts our overall record, so be it. We look forward to the challenge and I guarantee you our kids will give everything they have". The Blowfish are looking to play in around 14 tournaments this season including trips to Southaven, Ms, Jackson, Tn, Cordova, Tn & Panama City, Fl. TravelBallSelect would like to wish the 12U Blowfish Baseball team much success in 2009. Check out their website at:www.leaguelineup.com/blowfish
