11U- Triple Crown Summer Nationals (SC)- Mustangs Baseball (VA) vs. Wilmington Rays (NC) Print E-mail

Myrtle Beach, SC. The Wilmington Rays defeated the Mustang Baseball team 8-6 in a bracket play game at the Triple Crown Nationals in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The Rays picked up an early lead that survived until the very last out. Lambert Long got the Rays on the board with a single to right field in the first inning. Long would later score on an Adam Percoraro sac fly to center field.

The Rays picked up two more runs in the 2nd inning with RBI singles by Ryan Orlando and Thomas Simmons. Simmons would double home Orlando in the fourth inning to build a 4-0 lead for the Rays. The Rays would tack on four more runs for an 8-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 5th inning.

The Mustangs bats came alive in the bottom of the 5th inning, with the bases loaded Mark Terrell smashed a 2-RBI double to left field. The next batter Tyler Johnson brought home another Mustang run with an RBI single to make the score 8-6. The Rays would shut the door on the Mustangs, pulling out the 8-6 victory.

Thomas Simmons- 3-3 3 RBI
Clay Harris- 2-3 2 RBI
