Updated 04/07/2009 1. Tomateros de California (1) The Tomateros start the 11u season where they left off last year, number 1. Having already played in two Super NITs, winning one and coming in second in the other the boys from Southern California look to be as strong as ever. 2. Leon Medical Centers Baseball (FL) (2) LMC moves up a few spots from the 2008 final rankings largely because they play in arguably the most competitive region in the country. South Florida has three teams ranked in the top eight. LMC has played in five tournaments and have been in the championship game of all five. Their three in class losses are all by one run. LMC will be traveling to NC to play in the Super NIT with hopes of qualifying for the USSSA Elite 32 World Series. 3. GBC Team Acceleration (NC) GBC moves up to three as they continue their winning ways. They played in eight tournaments in the fall while winning five. Five of the tournaments they played in were 12u and they won three of the 12u events. GBC has a busy scheduling including several Super NITs and the Battle in the South. 4. Dallas Patriots (TX) The Patriots finished the 2008 10u season ranked #2. The Patriots finished sixth recently in the Triple Crown Season Opener. 5. West Pines Nike Cobras (FL) The Cobras make the big jump from #12 to the top five due to their activity and incredible success in South Florida. Nike played in nine tournaments, five since January. They have played in the championship game in eight of those tournaments winning six. The Cobras have an in class record of 29-3 with all three losses to LMC. (1-3 vs LMC in tournament play) The Cobras will be traveling to Tennessee to play in the USSSA Super NIT with hopes of qualifying for the Elite 32. 6. Banditos Black (TX) The Banditos seem to have retooled a little. Look for the Black to be as good as ever. With a legitimate number one at the top of the rotation the Banditos will be in the hunt of any tournament they enter. Look for the Banditos Black to continue the winning tradition. 7. Oklahoma Elite (OK) The Elite slip two spots primarily due to inactivity. With no changes to their roster TBS expects the Elite to continue their dominance in the 11u age group. Look for the Oklahoma Elite to make a strong showing at the AZ Super NIT. 8. Miami Playmakers (FL) The Playmakers started the fall season by winning the Triple Crown Fall Nationals. They did so by beating TBS #2 LMC. The Playmakers have an in class tournament record of 7-3 with two losses to TBS #5 Nike Cobras. Look for the Miami Playmakers to make a run at the Elite 32 along with their South Florida Rivals. 9. Knoxville Stars (TN) The Stars finished the 2008 season ranked #6. This team from Tennessee can play with anyone. They came up a little short at the Triple Crown Nationals in SC this past summer with a one run loss to the Flower Mound Warriors from TX. Look for a possible matchup with TBS 5 Nike Cobras in the Super NIT in May. 10. East Cobb Longhorns (GA) The Longhorns have started the spring season in impressive fashion. Arguably the top team out of Georgia the Longhorns have staked claim to a top ten ranking. This past weekend the Longhorns went 6-0 on their way to the Atl. Super NIT Championship going 6-0 outlasting the 28 team field. The week before the Super NIT they won a 12u tournament. Look for the Longhorns to continue to climb the rankings. 11. Lamorinda Monarchs (CA) The Monarch’s are off to a very good start. They won the USSSA Winter Nationals Super NIT by going 7-0. They also just came in third place in the USSSA Spring Championship Super NIT in AZ. 12. Chet Lemon’s Juice (FL) This team is very good. The recently won the Sunshine Athletics/AAU March Madness 12u. Look for them to be around in the end of any tournament they enter. 13. Texas Nationals Team (TX) The Nationals had a great 10u season. TBS looks for them to continue their success and possibly make the trip back to Disney for the Elite World Series. 14. C. Fl. Bobcats (FL) The Bobcats jump up a few spots from the 10u final rankings. This team just wins. Possibly the most fundamentally sound team you will see at 11u. It is rather impressive considering they have several players who are league age 10. TBS looks forward to a possible match up this weekend with TBS #18 Southern Jaguars in the USSSA Florida Elite Invitational NIT in Tampa this coming weekend. 15. So. Cal. Rush (CA) The Rush made a big name for themselves when the knocked off TBS #1 Tomateros in the Thanksgiving Day Super NIT thus giving them a berth to the Elite World Series this summer. They recently came in second to the Tomateros in their quest for a second Super NIT Championship. 16. Armour Baseball (CO) This tea from Colorado is playing well. They recently won two 12u events and came in second in another. They came up short at the AZ. Super NIT losing to TBS #15 So. Cal. Rush. 17. Alabama Bombers (AL) The Bombers made an impressive showing at the Atlanta Super NIT by coming in second place losing in the championship game to TBS #10 ECB Longhorns. TBS looks for the Bombers to keep improving. 18. Southern Jaguars (GA) Although the Jags had a disappointing showing at the Super NIT in Atlanta this team is for real. They won the Forsyth County Slugfest NIT by going 7-0 and lost in bracket play in the Atlanta Super NIT to eventual champion TBS #10 ECB Longhorns. Look for a possible match up this weekend in the USSSA Florida Elite Invitational against TBS #14 Central Florida Bobcats. 19. ECB Stars (GA) The Stars changed their name from the Astros but TBS looks for them to continue to have the same success. 20. Texas Bobcats (TX) The Bobcats are a solid team. Look for them to continue on last year’s success and climb the rankings. 21. Tampa Crush (FL) Although the Crush came in second at the Florida Elite Invitational this past weekend, they did so in impressive fashion. The were 4-0 leading up to the championship game having defeated TBS #14 Central Florida Bobcats and run ruling TBS #18 Southern Jaguars from Georgia. In the championship game the Crush would lose in extra innings to the Honorable Mentioned Orange County Outlaws by a score of 5-4. The Crush have an in class record of 15-4 and three tournament championships in just over two months. 22. DBat Mustangs Red (TX) Formerly the McKinney Marshals and winners of the Super Series World Series last season at 10U. This is a solid team. They came in third place at the Elite Travel Classic this past weekend behind the Dallas Patriots and the Banditos Black. Look for the Mustangs to play their way into a top 15 ranking. 23. Belle Chase Diamond Dawgs (LA) After finishing last season as a TBS Honorable Mention team the Dawgs start the preseason in the #23 spot. This team recently won a 12u Global Sports World Series Qualifier, came in 3rd at the Atlanta Super NIT losing 5-3 to eventual champions TBS #10 Longhorns and just won another 11U event going 5-0. 24. Flower Mound Warriors (TX) Winners of the Triple Crown Nationals at Myrtle Beach last summer the Warriors shocked the Travel Ball world. TBS looks forward to seeing if they can build on last season’s success. 25. Virginia Bruins (VA) The Bruins look like they may be a team on the rise. With five tournament championships at 11U, two of which while playing up at 12U, TBS feels this may be a team to keep an eye on. Honorable Mention Orange County Outlaws (FL) Georgia Roadrunners (GA) Kennesaw Xtreme (GA) VYAA Bombers (CA) Edgewood Bulldogs (IN) Chattanooga Colonials (TN) Tampa Bay Bulldogs (FL) Jackson Coyotes (TN) Central Florida Sundevils (FL) Cincinnati Riverbats (OH) Mizuno Glory (FL) Hanover Sports (VA) Stixx (TX) Beaver Valley Red (PA) Team Combat (FL)
