The 10U Leon Medical Centers baseball team finished a successful 2008 season ranked #4 by TravelBallSelect. LMC had a terrific 2008 season winning 11 out of the 13 tournaments they entered including a championship at Cooperstown Dream Park (rated by TBS as one of the toughest 10U tournaments). Unfortunately, they did not receive a bid to the Elite 24 in 2008. A successful finish at the Elite 24 might have placed them even higher in the TBS rankings. They are not ashamed of their final ranking but the team feels they can do better. Therefore, getting to the Elite World Series and winning it is a prominent goal of this team. The 2009 11U LMC roster consists of: Albert Maury, Stephen Alonso, Max Guzman, Nick Lopez, Gio Pinto, Andres Sierra, Austin Bergner, Clayton Kwiatkowski, Jordan Santos, Zachary Roberts, Geraldo Sanchez, Angel Camacho and Juan Hillman. Two key additions for LMC baseball in 2009 are players Emilio Borges and Gabriel Cruz. The coaching staff is lead by Manager Albert Maury, Head Coach Humberto Bencomo and Assistant Coaches Francesco Alonso, Otto Couto, Johnathan Maduro and Otto Couto Jr. The coaching staff is excellent and brings a wealth of experience. Coach Bencomo has been a part of many top ranked youth teams and recently was on staff of the 2008 Cooperstown Dreams Park NATC championship team. In the off season, LMC players are continuing to work hard as they know they have some “unfinished business” to address in 2009. Fall practices for LMC incorporate both baseball drills along with strength and conditioning. The coaches believe that drills will improve the mechanics, an essential to all great players, and a basic strength and conditioning program will minimize injuries and provide stamina to last the season. In 2009 LMC Baseball is planning to participate in the TravelBallSelect promoted events as well as the Elite 32 World Series. Some of the TBS promoted tournaments include the Triple Crown Nationals, the Battle in the South (BITS), a couple of Super NITs as well as other major tournaments throughout the country. Their goals for 2009 are to grow and develop individually and as a team, and to win every tournament they enter, especially the USSSA Elite 32 in Disney. TravelBallSelect would like to wish 11U Leon Medical Centers Baseball much success in their upcoming 2009 season.
