2009 11U Carolina Mustangs PDF Print E-mail

The 11U Carolina Mustangs baseball team is based out of Welcome, North Carolina. Mike Meadows, the Head Coach at North Davidson High School located in Welcome, put together a group of six year olds from the community and formed the Mustangs five years ago. The team was started with the idea of teaching fundamentals, sportsmanship, and hard work. The team has since evolved into a nationally competitive 11U program. Eight of the ten team members will play for coach Meadows at the high school level. The Mustangs are ready to show off their fundamentals and hard work to the other teams in 2009.

The Mustangs are led on the mound by Landon Michael, Jaskson Meadows, Joe Butts, Zeb Williams, Gage Powers, and Corey Joyce. Pitching and defense has been the backbone of the Mustangs over the past five seasons. However, the Mustangs can still swing the bats very well with three potent left handed sticks in the middle of the lineup, E.P. Reese, Cole Beeker, and Dylan Holmes. “Mr. Utility”, Austin Britt has seen time at every position on the field and continues to swing a hot bat. Smart base running and team speed is also a big factor in Mustang victories. Team speed, powerful pitching, and explosive hitting, this 2009 Mustangs team has it all. Trophies and plaques aren’t the reason the Mustangs got into competitive baseball. Watching the players grow and learn the great game of baseball and become competitive young men is all the reward the parents, coaches and players need.

The Mustangs will travel throughout the southeast to meet and compete with other upper echelon teams. In 2009 the 11U Mustangs will travel to East Cobb, Triple Crown Nationals, Super NITs, Cincinnati, Ohio and Cooperstown, New York. They play in 15-20 tournaments a year and take three months off for the kids to play football, basketball, and soccer. The Mustangs will start the off-season on December 1st with agilities and core strength training. They will also begin stretching and learning the mechanics of pitching and hitting. The team will meet twice a week for these workout sessions. The 11U Carolina Mustangs open their season February 15th 2009, in Greensboro. TravelBallSelect would like to wish the 11U Carolina Mustangs much success in their upcoming 2009 season.
