Who is the best team from Carolina? That was the question when the TBS #12 ranked Carolina Angels played the Carolina Rage in the championship game of the 10U Triple Crown Summer Nationals. In a game marked by unearned runs and infield blunders, the Angels capitalized on a 10 run 5th inning to defeat the Rage by a final score of 12-4. The Angels scored two in the first off the bat of Jalen Scott, but in the second the Rage came rearing back off the bat of Bryce Anders, whose infield single tied the score 2-2. A few batters later Clay Wilson singled off the glove of third baseman Will Sprinkle to score two more and put the Rage up, 4-2. But in the bottom of the fifth the Angels would take over, rolling through the Rage bullpen. Brandon Bailey hit an RBI double, and Jalen Scott bunted two runs in to put the Angels back on top, 6-4. A barrage of RBIs by Josh Humphrey, Tanner Christy, and Austin Beck took the Angel lead to 11-4, and Brandon Bailey finished the game with a walk-off RBI up the middle. Jamarcus Burt stood out in the Rage loss, making three great defensive stops at third base early in the game.
