10U- Triple Crown Summer Nationals (SC)- Carolina Angels vs. Wayne County Mustangs Print E-mail

The game was a pitching duel through two, but after three innings the Carolina Angels took over to defeat the Wayne County Mustangs 10-0 on Thursday, July 23rd in the 10U Triple Crown Summer National.

Carolina starting pitcher Alec Burleson had a fantastic outing on the mound, throwing a perfect four-inning game and striking out five. Brandon Lankford and Jacob Souza powered the Angels offense; each had a homerun and combined for 5 RBIs.

The Angels began their scoring drive in the bottom of the third when Davis OBrien singled to left field off Mustang starting pitcher Chandler Gentry. Two RBI singles and two homeruns later, the Angels led 7-0 when Mustang catcher Derek Neal threw out a stealing runner on a well-called pitch out to end the inning.

Alec Burleson continued his dominating pitching performance in the fourth, striking out two and reigniting the Angels momentum. Holden Foster pitched the bottom half of the inning for the Mustangs, loading the bases with no outs. Will Sprinkle was then hit by a pitch for an RBI walk, and Brandon Bailey followed to end the game with a 2-RBI liner to left field: final score 10-0 Carolina Angels.
