Dallas Tigers earn top seed at 10U Super 16 World Series

By Devin Hasson

The Dallas Tigers, who are among the honorable mention selections in the latest travelballselect.com 10U national poll, posted a 2-0 record to claim the No. 1 seed at the Super Series Super 16 World Series at The Ballfields at Craig Ranch in McKinney. The Tigers outscored their opponents by a combined score of 19-2, picking up victories over the South Texas Riders (13-2) and the North Texas Bulldogs (6-0).

The Tigers were not the only team to go undefeated during pool play, which was shortened due to rains in the area. The Texas Boom scored only 10 runs in two games but allowed only five to claim the second seed. The second of the Boom’s victories was impressive as they picked up a 6-4 win over the McKinney Marshals, which entered the tournament ranked 14th in the latest travelballselect.com poll.

The Irving Canes 98 scored a tournament-high 21 runs in posting a 2-0 record with wins over the North Texas Bulldogs (9-8) and the Palmview Angels (13-2). The Marshals used an earlier 11-3 victory over the Corpus Christi Rivercats to propel them to the fourth seed. Also posting 1-1 records were the Palmview Angels and South Texas Riders, who were awarded the fifth and sixth seeds, respectively.
