As evening descended upon Snowden Grove the Louisiana Thunder and the Germantown Giants began their contest. It was evident that the players from both teams were eager to begin the game which proved to be true as the game began a few minutes early. In the top of the first inning the Thunder put the bat on the ball and made the Giants make plays in the field. The Giants made the routine plays and didn’t offer any extra outs as a result of errors, but the Thunder still managed to manufacture two runs. In the bottom half of the inning the starting pitcher for the Thunder overwhelmed the Giants with what he was delivering to the plate and retired two batters with swinging strikeouts. In the top half of the second inning one of the most rare baseball plays occurred. The Thunder had a runner on third base and as the Giants’ catcher returned the ball to the pitcher the base runner on third bolted for home plate and scored safely, successfully stealing home. The bottom of the second proved to be the inning the Giants retaliated, scoring five runs of their own all on clutch two out singles which gave them a 5-3 advantage. After giving the Thunder a big inning in the third with walks and errors the Giants were looking to force the Thunder scoreless in the fourth. To the Giants’ dismay the Thunder were not done scoring runs. Jacob Pearson #2 laced a fastball over the right-center wall for a two run homerun. Just two batters later Auger Little #13 sent a towering bomb over the left-center wall for another two run homerun. The Thunder rode that tidal wave of momentum into the bottom half of the inning where they shut down the Giants for the impressive victory of 11-6.
